Jamie Kennedy wine bar experience

2005 Delas Condrieu “La Galopine” Viognier: AC – probably first time drinking a Viognier from northern Rhone. Fresh apple and pear in the nose. Fruity but not sweet with a balanced acidity. It even has a very tiny bit of bitterness. An impressive structured, full-bodied white. 91

VW: Mainly sweet apple on the nose which is relatively light for a viognier. Good concentration, low acid and high in alcohol. Full bodied palate but not showing much fruit at the moment. Finished with just the right amount of oak. This should improve. 90

2005 Heinrich St Laurent: AC – also probably first time having Austia wine. This one is exactly how the waitress described. A full bodied, spicy wine. Aside from that it comes from Austria, I can hardly find any other trait that stands out in this wine. – 88

2004 Rabl Gruner Veltliner “Kaferberg”: AC – Not enough fruit to balance the strong acidity in this wine. 89

VW: Somewhat similar to the Condrieu above. Little nose but with crisp acidity. Taste fresher than the Condrieu. 89

2005 Domaine Jo Pithon Anjou “Les Pepinieres” Chenin Blanc: AC – A more fruity wine with hint of lemon in the nose. Despite a ordinary Chardannay-like palate for this wine, the spectacular long finish for a white wine kicks in at the end and ended with some woodiness in your mouth making this quite an interesting wine. 90

VW: Chamomile tea on the nose. The alcohol was not well integrated. Medium bodied and quite alcoholic. The attack was rather grapey which then turned dry into the long finish. 88

2002 Rabl Trockenbeerenauslese Traminer: AC – Yet another yummy late-harvest style sweet wine. The amazing thing about these late harvest is that they are quite successful in making it sweet but yet leaves a tiny bit of bitterness in it. Very balanced and structured. 91

VW: Apricot, orange and raisin on both nose and palate. Stylistically similar to a Tokaji. Thick and honeyed which I prefer some more acid in it. Expensive for the price ($10/oz.) 89
