GINI 23 – Rhone

It’s near Christmas and we’ve decided to go for something more ’special’ for the holidays. At the end we’ve picked 2 wine from Châteuneuf-du-Pape and the other 2 from Côtes du Rhône. This was an interesting tasting for me as I have always thought CdP is one of my favourite wine region and I would know their characteristics quite well. As it turns out (we tasted the wine blind) I find the my favourite to be the Rasteau which sells for $17.95 from LCBO and rated the most expensive Beaucastel last ($89). This makes me think I need to pay more attention to the structure of the wine rather than just how they taste. Having said that I do think the Rasteau possesses quite good value and I didn’t hesitate going back to LCBO the next day and bought myself another bottle (I hope I could buy another bottle of Beaucastel to taste again but it’s just too expensive
) In any case CdP still remains to be one of my favourite regions and I think lots of wine drinkers will agree with me that their wine are ’special’. AC: 2007 Vinsobres Les Cornuds-90, 2007 Rasteau CdRhone Chapoutier-91,2007 Chateau de Beaucastel CdP-89,2005 Le Vieux Donjon CdP-90
