2006 Petit Mars
VW: This smell like a Southern Rhone on open… cherry, cola, kirsch. But this subsided after sitting in glass and the nose giving very little later on. Mostly sweet red cherry on the palate. Good amount of tannins but with a short and somewhat hot finish. I wonder what varietals went into this Petit Mars. 89 (April, 2009)

2004 Bodegas Altanza Lealtanza Crianza
VW: On open, this was very closed.. giving very little on nose and palate. It continued to open for the 2 hours dinner showing dark berries nose. Same on the palate with smoke, quite spicy and some vanilla. Full and velvet, this opened up nicely to be very enjoyable. Quite grapey but with balanced acidity [...]
