2007 BIHN LIEBFRAUMILCH RHEINHESSEN
VW: I was looking for a cheaper white wine for poaching pears and picked this one for $8.45. Liebfraumilch is a type of semi-sweet wine made in Germany. Most of the time Liebfraumilch is associated with low quality wine. Green apple and tangerine nose. Quite balanced sweet and sour note, but other than that, not much else to hold your interest. You get what you paid for. 85 (May, 2009)
It poached this pear…. the reduced syrup was quite acidic (which required good amount of extra sugar to balance it out) with plum taste.
