2006 Castano Monastrell Yecla
AC: Perhaps we shouldn’t drink this after the Almaviva… From the nose to the mid palate to the finish I tasted some odd herbs if not grass. There was little fruits but it was overwhelmed by the grass I tasted. Not difficult to tell the differences between good and not-so-good wine on this night. Oh, note that this wine costs about US$5.00. 87
VW: Smell like a sweet Chateauneuf. Sweet and a litte candied with some cola on the nose. Sweet red fruits on the palate, rather balanced. Nice intensity and reasonable finish. Given the price, this is incredible value. 90 (Jan 1, 2008)
