2004 Quinta Do Crasto Douro Reserva Old Vines

2004 Quinta Do Crasto Douro Reserva Old VinesVW: From old and low yielding vines of around 65 years old, this Douro red came from an acclaimed producer in Portugal. Ripe dark fruits on the nose with vanilla oak and a tad of sweet basil. Intensely flavoured with lots of blue berriesĀ and some leather, turning into vanilla filled oak finish. This medium-full bodied red was very velvet and ripe. An easy going personality that is offering lots of pleasure now and over the next 5 or so years. 91 (May 15, 2007)

AC: This dark violet wine does not have a very catchy nose. Once in the mouth amazing thing starts happening. Opened with an overwhelming woody (cedar?) taste it then comes the fruits with a balanced memorable finish. The tannic level hinted that this is the time to drink this wine now. Without doubt an enjoyable wine to drink. 91
