2003 Melini Chianti Classico Riserva Vigneti La Selvanella
VW: A traditionally styled chianti which went pretty well with the lamb. Medium bodied with red fruits dominating the nose and taste. Bright acidity gave perfect lift for the fat in the meat. It hides the heat of 2003 well without any jamminess. 90 (May 2005)
AC: Classic example of how good a Chianti can get. Not sure if it’s ‘old world’ but as Vincent suggested, ‘traditional’ fits the wine. Not sweet, this balanced wine is a very good every day wine for its price given its quality. 91
