2001 Baron De Ley Reserva
AC: Quite a powerful nose with black fruits. Opened with lots of fruits and never ended making it a bit sweet in the mid palate. A good concentrated new world style wine for this price. Lacks a memorable finish. 89
VW: New oak, current, dark cherry nose. A morden fruit driven style that at the same time maintained some old world charm. Full bodied palate with sweet fruit that is not unlike a Chateauneuf. It is clear that 2001 was a great Rioja vintage from this wine. A great value that is drinking well now and into the next 3 or 4 years. 91 (June 15, 2007)
