1995 Muga Rioja Selection Especial
VW: The 4 GINI Spanish wines seemed to show a similar trait, which was some citrus fruits on the nose. Both this and the 1998 version of this wine showed oranges besides the more usual berries on the nose. Matured color, smell and taste, this is ready to drink. But it should not be falling off anytime soon. The sweet fruits was holding well throughout the tasting. 91 (Dec 8, 2007)
I tried very hard to see the difference between the 95 and the 98 but besides the color, they tasted exactly the same to me. Both 95/98 have very attractive woody nose, especially comparing with the other Spanish we tried on the night. Unfortunately that’s about all I like about this wine… In the palate the fruit has barely shown up throughout. Maybe it has something to do with the lunch I had earlier that day… 89
