1993 Balthasar Ress Johannisberger Erntebringer Riesling Spatlese
VW: Once this wine hit my palate, I knew that I made the wrong decision……. to buy one of this only. The name is long but this wine is easy to understand and enjoy. Was on sales at Vintages for $13 Canadian only ! but too bad they are all gone by now.
Classic petrol, some rubber, sweet cream coming from the glass. As it sat longer, some flowers also emerged. Although a Spatlese, it is not too sweet and went well with the salmon steak. Concentrated with lots of minerals, fresh and vibrant acidity. Medium bodied and a very reasonable finish. Fully matured but it should hold its shape for few more years. Really quite fine and what a value for the price. 92 (April, 2009)
